With our 4th edition the members at theSpace have increased the number of articles as well as the depth and diversity of each topic they covered. Each was challenged with providing their perspective and experience while keeping the reader in mind. This has lead to a comprehensive and informative newspaper/magazine that succeeds in providing a wide platform to voice their interests and opinions. At the same time as each writer has become a journalist, an editor and publisher they have also contributed a work of art for each of their articles. We are excited to finally share their articles with the larger community both online and here in Ottawa.
The McArthur : Fall Edition
Summer at theSpace has been a giant success! All our members have been excellent at showcasing their talents and building on all the skills we've been practicing with each creative project. The amount of detail demonstrated by each contributor has been quite impressive, and each has managed to meet new challenges and cover new ground and topics with every issue thus far.
Everyone has also remarked on the importance of having a medium like this; an accessible medium which provides an opportunity for personal introspection and expression. The writing down and sharing of our memories, experiences and observations of our day to day and local community, has provided us with a fun and vital platform for identity-building and connection! As always, I am excited to share everyone’s work and continue to build community by making connections and adding more people to the conversation.
The McArthur : 3rd Edition
This edition our writers, columnists and reviewers provide a detailed overview of their personal passions, local favourites and diverse experiences. Our core group of members have done a great job researching, formatting and editing this edition. Our 2nd edition has expanded on our previous know-how and process and now includes advertisements for their products/services and movies. This paper has been a great collective and shared project that has helped give everyone a voice to promote themselves, their talents and what’s important to them.
Our very first newspaper. What started as a project to write stories, share experiences and practice various skill-sets, has grown into a quarterly publication that helps to promote our members and their interests.
We hope with each edition to grow our columns, share more thoughts and opinions while expanding the format and inclusiveness.
